“We Think Differently”

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

-Genesis 2:24-

I pointed out in my last article last October that “what is interesting to me is that in the past 50 years or more, feminists and liberals have been trying to wipe out the sexual differences or even the physical difference between men and women at the very time that scientific research has been documenting the fact that men and women are different.” (October 2026 Article)

“Here is the record which has stood down the ages: “Male and female He created them.” Our English word sex comes from the Latin word SECARE, which means “TO DIVIDE.” It was God who produced the first prototypes, who were distinctly male and female. And science unlocks the secrets of the brain and how it develops, it may well be that we are forced to recognize there are great many differences than the fact that girls wear shower caps and boys don’t. The facts of life have never been more apparent.” (Ibid.)

We think differently!

Take a minute and see how well your brain is working. Wiggle your right toe. OK-it was the left side of your brain which kicked in and told it to move. Now take both hands and put them on opposite shoulders and move your fingers. Now, your hands are on the side of your brain which is giving the orders to move. Got it? The right side of your brain controls the left side of your body, and vice versa.

Your brain is divided into two hemispheres connected with the nerve fibers. If you are a female, before you were born, the left side of your brain began to develop earlier than its right side. And what does the left side of your brain control, in addition to motor ability on the right side of your body? Your ability to talk, to read and to verbalize thoughts. “We use the left side of the brain,” says one authority on human development, “when we read a newspaper, sing a song, play bridge or write a letter.”

In real life, this translates to a female’s ability to talk circles around the men in her life. There’s a reason, men, why women are more prone that you have to have wind erosion on their teeth and get calluses on their vocal chords. Talking is the natural expression of their natures, and they wish that listening was yours.

What about the right side of the brain and what does it control? We use the right side of the brain “when we consult a road map, thread our way through a maze, work jigsaw puzzle, design a house, plan a garden, recognize a face, paint a picture, possibly when we listen to music, definitely when we solve a problem in geometry,” says Dr. Joyce Brothers. The right side of the brain helps you see the large picture.

The fact that the right side of the brain is also used to do math explains why males tend to do better at math and science than women, though there are expectations to ever generalization.

Does this mean that men are better than women? Using the term “BETTER THAN” implies superiority, and the reality is that we are DIFFERENT. Each sex is unique, and that uniqueness means men have skills which appear stronger than women in some areas. Women, at the same time, have skills in other areas that are superior to those of their counterparts.

Understanding the differences helps bring harmony and eliminate competition. Function is the result of design. Instead of trying to force men and women into the same mold, it is high time that we recognize what Moses knew more than 3,000 years ago. God made both men and women in His image and equipped them to do tasks which complement each other. Knowing what those differences are and respecting them is the key to harmony and happiness.
